International messaging to South Africa:
Vodacom, MTN, Cell C and Rain have implemented International Messaging classification, carrying with it its own routing and commercials.

What is deemed an International Message and what is a local message?
An International Message is a message that has originated from one of the below listed brands.

Is there any new configuration required by you?
You will require a new SMSPortal username that has international routing configured. Any traffic that you are currently terminating to SMSPortal that has local content (this is defined as content not originated by one of the brands above), may remain on the SMSPortal usernames you have been using. If you are a new customer to SMSPortal, and would like to send both local and international SMS, please inform our team of your intention and SMSPortal will issue you with a set of credentials for each use case.

What do you do with the other Mobile Network Operators you currently terminate via SMSPortal?
There are currently no changes to any other Mobile Network Operator for International Messaging. SMSPortal can issue you with a username that includes full coverage for South Africa, with the necessary routing for Vodacom, MTN, Cell C and Rain International Messaging along with standard routing for Telkom Mobile.
What do International SMS messages cost?
The cost per SMS message varies based on the network. Please contact us at [email protected] for specific pricing information.
What will happen to your messages if you do not route them to the correct SMSPortal username?
It is important to understand that any International Messaging sent over local routes will fail. No refunds will be issued for these messages incorrectly terminated.
